Internships

We offer both inbound and outbound internship opportunities for young people seeking to grow personally and professionally through work experience and cultural exchange in Japan and around the world.

Since 2015, the Global Department has been running a robust inbound internship program for international students, study abroad participants, and local students who wish to gain work experience and immerse themselves in Japanese culture. To date, we have hosted young interns from diverse countries, including Australia, the United States, China, Colombia, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and, of course, Japan.
Through these internships, we aim to create a space where individuals from various backgrounds can learn from one another, exchange ideas, and foster new perspectives.

“My internship experience in Osaka YMCA is definitely something to remember during my time studying abroad in Japan. Being a member of YMCA global department as well as a 2016 GYC committee member has helped me make great progress in my organizational and communication skills, as well as developing a nuanced understanding of social analysis, policy making, and other ongoing key issues in this global era. Working with excellent people from around the world was not only a delight but a great way to further understand and embrace cultural diversity as well!

If you’re looking for a lifetime overseas internship experience and involvement as student leader and diplomatic delegate, Osaka YMCA provides ideal opportunities for you to work and grow. I can’t tell you how pleasure it was to be selected as the very first overseas study abroad intern in the department. I would certainly recommend you to join and explore your own unique internship experiences with this wonderful project!”

"The internship experience in the Global Department was great opportunity to take on a challenge and develop myself. When I start the program, I would like to use my English skill and design experience, and I could achieve both goals. They let me try to translate from English into Japanese and work as a interpreter in a big conference. Also, I could design a brochure by myself even though I was just a student. These tasks were challenging, but people in the Global Department helped me a lot and recognized what I have done and contributed. They listened to me carefully and I could ask even small questions easily. I worked as an intern for half year, and I could gain self-confidence from this experience. I differently recommend this internship and it will encourage you to show your leadership."
